When Dr Gustavo de Oliveira, owner of Lake Lucerne Lifestyle Dentistry in Orlando, Florida, first discovered DSD for himself it became very clear that he would follow the path to DSD Clinic status. Continue reading to see his story.
The power of emotional dentistry
Dr de Oliveira's journey with DSD began in 2019 with his first course, known then as DSD Residency 1, in Miami. For him, attending this course was a way to hone his skills to provide his patients with higher-quality dentistry. It ended up being a turning point in his career, opening his eyes to new techniques and possibilities, as well as confirming what he was already doing right in his practice.
“I felt validated because a lot of what Christian Coachman teaches are things that I was already applying in my practice. The focus on emotional dentistry - connecting with patients on a deeper level to understand their needs and concerns - this aspect is everything and is the way to go for an office that wants to stand out from the crowd,” he explains.

Reigniting the passion
If his first DSD course felt like a springboard, the one he took next was a launchpad.
Dr de Oliveira attended a DSD Residency 2 course (now known as DSD Clinical) at the DSD Education Center in Seville, a state-of-the-art venue that integrates instruction with clinical training on real patients, including live surgeries. “The over-the-shoulder experience is phenomenal, and watching the live surgery with a guided protocol right in front of you, such as the All-on-X case, is very impactful. I went home with so many new ideas and a new passion for dentistry,” he recounts.
Taking the next step with the DSD Master certification
With a solid foundation of DSD courses, the logical next step was for Dr de Oliveira to begin the DSD Master certification process.
What caught his attention was the collaborative aspect of the program, allowing him to work closely with other dentists, sharing insights and perspectives that enriched his practice. He describes: “It’s tremendous to have your cases supported by dentists and other professionals, collaborating on cases together, and just thinking more comprehensively overall.”
His experience in the DSD Master certification, where he got to work one-on-one with DSD Planning Center members, was his first real taste of putting comprehensive treatment planning into practice. And the gears that had now been set in motion didn’t stop there.
Immediate implementation and future plans
What sets Dr de Oliveira, and other forward-thinking dentists like him, apart is their proactive approach. Even before leaving the DSD Residency 2 course in Spain, he was already sending lecture recordings and videos to his lab technician in Florida, eager to implement the new techniques he was learning.
After being back at his clinic in Orlando for a few months, he began the process of becoming an official DSD Clinic, telling us “The admiration for Christian’s brilliance turned intoa collaboration that has not only made me a better dentist but has also helped me deliver excellence to my patients, who are the ultimate reason why I got here.”

DSD Clinic status means he has unlimited exclusive access to the DSD Planning Center treatment planning services, specialized DSD team training with the DSD Team Consultancy program, and bespoke marketing campaigns, along with additional professional support.
